Hike Up Mount Timp.

Okay so I know that this was some time back but I wanted to get at least a few of these up so that people could see the pictures that I took from the time that Robbie and I hiked Mt. Timp.

This is sunrise on the back side of the mountain we started at about 5:30am-6:00am somewhere around there and we where about 1/4 of the way up when the sun started to rise and that is when I took this picture. I left the flash on completly on acident but with it on it took the picture fast enough that it made it so that it wasn't blured with my moving around when I try and take pictures.

So I really don't care what people say, I really don't like pictures of myself, and mostly when I am the one that is taking the picture. Though I do feel good that I know how to aim, I have seen some shots like this that have been really bad to the point that all you can see is the top of their head and that is it.  But a little more about the trip, we started at Aspin Grove, just above Sundance and got the last parking spot there at the trail head, making it easy for us when we where finnished with it all.  The hike in total took us about 12 hours to do, and round trip it was about 16 to 18 miles, and the first part was the easy part, though it was the longest, took way too many pictures durring that part.  The last little bit was the hardest part and I think that anyone would say that with it being on rock and you being tossed around by the wind, and if you are like me and you don't like the hights to much you really can't look off the edge or you start feeling that you are going to fall off or something like that.
I guess that a lot of people bring their dogs up with them, infact this one was number 2 of 10 or something like that.  It would be nice to be able to take Scout and ranger on walks like that, and nor worry about having them run away.

Amazing blue skyes and the flowers where all in bloom makes for a good shot , and this one is mom's fav that I took I like it too, mostly with how deep blue the sky is with the light brown, the yellows and the purples that are in it.

Now can you find home...clue the big white building is Target, and yes home is here I have zoomed in and looked, so that I think goes for everyone just with how far back this is I think that all of the houses are in this picture.  This shot is not from the top but is from the saddle.

The three of us that where there, we all had fun and all waned to sleep by the end of it or at least two of the three wanted to I think that if you where to look closely at the pictuer that you would be able to tell who it is that wanted to stop right there and fall asleep.

Okay so this relly has nothing to do with eveything ealse just a cliff that I thought looked amazing on the way down so I took a picture of it, you have all of the plants growing out of the cracks and the small springs flowing freely and you can't see it but right next to it all is a wonderful waterfall.  If any of you want to go and do the Mount Timp hike and you don't think that you can get through it all just the first half up the back side to Emrald Lake is worth it.

Summer

So summer is here and for the most part I have been out at some summer camps doing all of that fun stuff there, one week at Entrada scout camp, in the Canyonlands area and the other was Youth Conference in Goblin Valley. I brought my camera to both of them so here are some of the pictures that I got.

Kev-dog right after getting off the repelling wall. and then that is him shooting, and he had for some odd reason a really good aim.

Here is me just comming down from repelling, not something that I thought would be too much fun but I did enjoy it more than what I thought that I would.

Josh a.k.a. J-dog, we had 3 Josh's so we gave him a nickname so that we could tell him apart from the others.

This is one thing that I thought was crazy, after one of the activities at Entrada all of the boys got in one car, and I was in the other. It was fun to see them all try and get out as fast as they possibly could.

I think that we all had fun with this camp, we ended up doing just a little bit of everything; rock climbing, repelling, canyonering, shooting sports, river rafting, and even rideing mountain bikes on some slickrock.

As for Youth conference my camera had some problems so I didn't really get too many pcitures but here are some of the ones that I did get mostly of Kevin and Klarissa.

Oh and there is Matt. Well as for me like I said I had a lot of fun on these campouts, really enjoyable now to catch up on all of the sleep that I missed while out on them.

Looking Back and Moving Forward

I was looking at a few pictures that were on the computer today mostly from my mission and was just thinking of all of the fun times that I had with some of the people in them. Like this one was back in May of 2008 we got a big snow storm that went right through Winnipeg and for a first time, since I got there, it was a wet snow my companion Elder Jonithan Kirkland was from Arizona and had never made a real snowman so he wanted to make one we talked to one of the families that we where teaching, Wendy and Brain, and they let us come over and together we made one of the biggest snowmen that I have ever made I think that it was about 6'6" you can't really tell with me standing there because I am standing on a high spot on the ground. I think that was the funnest times that I had there I think that we all enjoyed making that thing I can't even remember what we said the name was or even if we gave it a name I just remember all of us tyring to lift just the middle part, man that thing was I would say about 200 lbs it took both me and Elder Kirkland to get that up on top of it.

So as missionaries we had a challenge that if we went to Fudruckers someone would get the 1lb burger (that is the weight cooked without condiments) this time we all got it and for the most part we all got fries to go with it, and they do not hold back on the fries at all, we all finished the fries and 4 of the 5 elders finished the burgers, and yes I did finish it and the fries but I was full for the rest of the day. It was funny to see some of us didn't really think of how big it really was so we got just about everything on them, and then there where the ones that knew exactly what it was that they were doing so they didn't get anything extra on it. We had a few contests going for them all, most stuff on the burger, fastest ate, and the one who puked first (that one was after and really only one person was competing in that)

Alright so I also get the question a lot of how cold it was and well this will show you...this is what I looked like when I went out side in the winter (that is in the months of December to February, and yes the snow does go up to my knees here in this picture also if I remember right that night what I was standing in was about -38 C.) As for the outfit the hat, or toque, was the most important, I had the rabbit skin hat that kept me really warm in those cold months next the scarf was a must have if not you took in one breath and you where dieing because it hurt so much. Now for the coat that thing was my best friend during the winter and under that is about 3 more layers of cloths, the gloves I would always have 2 pairs on, and then the slacks, we couldn't have snow pants so underneath I would have long johns and a pair of fleas PJ bottoms and that really kept me warm and the wind off my legs. The last thing that you don't see is my boots, a must have for anyone that is walking in the snow.

Now I always thought that some things that we did as Americans where crazy but I think that this one takes the cake. But then when you are over 400 miles from really much of anything I would think that some people would find a way to get more enjoyment out of the things that they do have up there. This was found in my second area, we where in a outlining city called Thompson and as part of the area we had everything up north of that witch included a place called Gillam that was about 300 Km away from Thompson witch was 800 Km north of Winnipeg. That out of all of my areas was I think the funnest I don't know if it was the fact that I was hundreds of miles away from really anyone or just that it was so small that everyone knew who we where or even just being able to do just about everything that the leaders got to do but for ourselves. I don't know I really liked it and I was lucky enough that I got to be here for the summer because the winters in Thompson are just brutal from what I have heard about it.

So, over all I had a lot of fun companions but this guy here was one of the funnest, Elder Kirkland, he would always make something that seemed really bad at first to something that was fun. And he always seemed to give things names, for example the rubber band ball there on his shoulder we called him James (it got its name from the portion of the city that we where in, St. James) he also had this nasty sausage that he called Strauss (we lived on the corner of Strauss and Strauss, so the name of the area was called Strauss) I think that by the time that we separated James got to be about 8lbs and from what I understand is that he is a lot bigger now.

As for Moving forward things are going good I have justabout half of what I need to pay for my next semester of school, so that is nice to know that I will beable to take care of that, I have also paid back the last student loan that I took out so I am verry happy about that one not having to worry about that debt that I had. but I still do not know what I should go into at school, and to get into any of the programs that I want to check out you need to be in the major so that makes it just a little harder to try and see if that is what I want to do, but just so that you all know I am thinking about things that I could do and planning to fit all of those things in.

My Job

Well the night goes on and I am doing my thing working at the Scera Theater. Not much that I do but it is a job that pays and one that hired me one the day that I got home or fairly close to that day.

What I do...the first thing that I do is I get everything ready for when the volunteers show up and well they get to do what it is that I ask them to and that could be anything from cleaning the theater to taking out the trash and well checking the bathrooms is also in there and I just go around and check to see that everything is done the way that it needs to be and that the volunteers are doing what it is that they need to be doing. I also go and thread the projector and check it so that it is working right and all of that, I am still getting that one down, I still forget something the first time I get up there but I eventually figure out what it is that I forgot to do.

And well this only has one down side I am right now sitting alone in the office the movie is running and I just have to sit here till it is over at 11:10 ish, just in case something happens to the movie and well there is also a few people there in the movie so I have to stay till they are all gone and then I go through the whole place and check that all of the lights are off and all of the doors are locked and that no one can get in. I think that is the only part that I hate doing because it is so dark in this place when you go through for the final check that you don't really know if someone is hiding there around the corner or something, there never is but then again you never know what could happen.

But through it all I really love this place and I think that even if I did get a different job I would keep this one as a part time one that I could get the free tickets and everything from, and I think that the dark nights will get better and not as freaky when going through all the rooms.

Back to school

Lately I have had a lot of people ask me about school so I am going to tell everyone what it is that I am going to be doing…before I left I took one term at BYU and deferred for my mission so that I could go back when I came home. Well that is what I am going to do; I am enrolled for the winter 2009 semester as a part time student.

As for what I want to go into. I really do not know right now I think that I want to go into something with computers, because, as most of you know, I love working on the computer. I have also thought about going into some type of art major, just there, there are too many naked bodies so I don’t think that it is for me. Graphic arts is another option that I have thought about and with that I am going to have to look a little more into it to see if that is really something that I would want to go into. So as you can tell I am really confused on what I should go and do

Well as for this coming semester I have four classes that I’m going to be attending; my first is going to start on Monday the 5th at 1:00 and it will be REL A 122 The Book of Mormon, with Professor Bartholomew. My next class will be REL C 431 Doctrines of the Gospel, with Professor Ostler. I will have these two classes on Monday and Wednesday, and so I will have my two religion classes together on the same day. My other two classes will be on Tuesday and Thursday starting at 2:00 I will have IT 101 with Professor Swan, and then after that I will then go to HUM 101 Introduction to the Humanities with Professor Lauri Haddock. Well as you can see it is not too full but really what I could afford for now.
